जनपथ हिंदी जगत के शुरुआती ब्लॉगों में है जिसे 2006 में शुरू किया गया था। शुरुआत में निजी ब्लॉग के रूप में इसकी शक्ल थी, जिसे बाद में चुनिंदा लेखों, ख़बरों, संस्मरणों और साक्षात्कारों तक विस्तृत किया गया। अपने दस साल इस ब्लॉग ने 2016 में पूरे किए, लेकिन संयोग से कुछ तकनीकी दिक्कत के चलते इसके डोमेन का नवीनीकरण नहीं हो सका।
जनपथ को मौजूदा पता दोबारा 2019 में मिला, जिसके बाद कुछ समानधर्मा लेखकों और पत्रकारों के सुझाव से इसे एक वेबसाइट में तब्दील करने की दिशा में प्रयास किया गया। इसके पीछे सोच वही रही जो बरसों पहले ब्लॉग शुरू करते वक्त थी, कि स्वतंत्र रूप से लिखने वालों के लिए अखबारों में स्पेस कम हो रही है। ऐसी सूरत में जनपथ की कोशिश है कि वैचारिक टिप्पणियों, संस्मरणों, विश्लेषणों, अनूदित लेखों और साक्षात्कारों के माध्यम से एक दबावमुक्त सामुदायिक मंच का निर्माण किया जाए जहां किसी के छपने पर, कुछ भी छपने पर, पाबंदी न हो। शर्त बस एक हैः जो भी छपे, वह जन-हित में हो। व्यापक जन-सरोकारों से प्रेरित हो। व्यावसायिक लालसा से मुक्त हो क्योंकि जनपथ विशुद्ध अव्यावसायिक मंच है और कहीं किसी भी रूप में किसी संस्थान के तौर पर पंजीकृत नहीं है।
