एक बीमार, अशक्त, वृद्ध
और फिर शोभायात्रा सफेद मौत की
जब भागे होंगे बुद्ध
सत्य की खोज में
बदहवास
इतिहास में और किसी भागे हुए पुरुष का जिक्र नहीं
न बुद्ध से पहले
न उनके बाद।
पुरुषों का भागना इतिहास नहीं
पुरुषों का भागना घटना भी नहीं
कोई नहीं लिखता
जब भागता है एक पुरुष
गांव से कस्बे
कस्बे से शहर
शहर से जंगल
और जाने कहां-कहां।
इस भागती धरती पर
भागा हुआ पुरुष
उपन्यास है
पुराण है
वेद है
आख्यान है
लेकिन कविता
कतई नहीं।
कविता में
सिर्फ भागी हुई लड़कियां आती हैं
लड़के नहीं
लड़कों का भागना
पुरुषों का भागना
संक्षिप्तता के खतरों से मुक्त है
स्त्री का भागना हो सकता है
कई प्रसंगवश
पुरुषों का भागना
जुड़ा है धरती की गति से अकेला
इलेक्ट्रॉन सी गति
जहां अपनी ज़मीन की टोह भी
नहीं मुमकिन
तकरीबन दो इंच ऊपर
हवा में
जब होते हैं तलुवे
तब जगती है रात
और सोती हैं स्त्रियां
सुबह के इंतज़ार में।
वे भी
जो भाग चुकी होती हैं
जबकि पुरुष कर रहे होते हैं
भागने की तैयारी
देखते हैं हर हरकत धरती की
अंधेरों में नाचते नक्षत्र
और
घरघराते सायरन
दिमाग के अंतिम तहखानों में।
नहीं होंगी दर्ज कभी
भागने की अनगिनत कोशिशें मेरी
किसी कविता में
नहीं बनूंगा बुद्ध
कि बन पाऊं इतिहास
नहीं बन पाऊंगा स्त्री
उठाते छोटे-छोटे खतरे भागने के
लेकिन गवाह है धरती
कि मैंने देखा है उसे नाचते नंगा
सूरज के इर्द-गिर्द
रात के सन्नाटे में
किया है अफसोस
हुआ हूं शर्मिंदा
रोया हूं अकेला
नहीं छोड़ेगी ये धरती मुझे
एक इंच भी ऊपर
खुद से
जानती है
जो भाग गया मैं
तो माफ नहीं कर सकेगी खुद को
उघड़ जाएंगी
सहनशीलता की सभी परतें
होगी जगहंसाई
कहेंगे लोग
